PEI conducted a Site Investigation/ Remedial Alternatives Report (SI/RAR) for an approximately 2.5-acre park. The site was first occupied in the early 1900's by asphalt and construction materials manufacturers. The results of the SI/RAR provided the City with the information necessary to select a remedial action program. The investigation program identified low levels of semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) and metals to exist in the surface and subsurface soils. A tar-like substance was found at the surface in a small area of the park. An Interim Remedial Measure (IRM) consisting of the excavation and disposal of a 10,000-gallon UST containing tar and approximately 300 cubic yards of tar/soil material was completed.
